Henry Cisneros, former U.S. Secretary of Housing & Urban Development Momentum is Building Excelencia in Education’s mission is to accelerate Latino student success in higher education, thereby expanding our country’s human capital and leadership. Linking research, policy, and practice, Excelencia promotes institutional practices and educational policies that support Latino student achievement. Our guiding theory of action is as follows - we can make a measurable difference in increasing Latino student success in higher education by: building a social movement that is informing decision makers, showing them what can be done, and holding them accountable; working within institutions and organizations within sectors to provide assistance and compel action; and creating a supportive community of action-oriented advocates.
