Juan Sánchez Muñoz

University of California-Merced

Juan Sánchez Muñoz serves as the fourth chancellor at the University of California, Merced. Previously he served as president of the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD). There he launched the university’s largest capital campaign and led the institution’s recovery efforts after Hurricane Harvey. The son of Mexican immigrants to California, Chancellor Muñoz is a first-generation college graduate from UC and CSU institutions. He has a demonstrated commitment to support Latino student success and advance diversity and equity in higher education throughout his professional career.


Juan Sánchez Muñoz is a President for Latino Student Success.
