Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs): 2022-23

Overview

For 20 years, since the organization’s founding, Excelencia in Education has released its annual analysis on a critical group of institutions enrolling and graduating Latino students—Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). The number of HSIs has increased from 571 to 600 this past year. In 2022-23, HSIs are located in 28 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. These institutions represent 20% of all colleges and universities yet enroll 63% of Latino undergraduates.
