(April 9, 2024) – Excelencia in Education announces today the release of a comprehensive new profile of Latino students — one of the fastest growing populations in higher education — and institutions where they enroll in order to inform policy and mobilize action that ensures they are served well. It shows Latinos represent the majority of growth in the number of degrees earned nationwide, despite their lower degree attainment compared to all students.

Latinos in Higher Education: 2024 Compilation of Fast Facts Excelencia’s latest analysis builds on previous compilations of fact sheets to provide a detailed profile on Latino students and the institutions where they choose to enroll to inform policy and mobilize action. For 20 years, Excelencia in Education has led the way through innovative, collaborative, and actionable efforts to accelerate Latino student success in higher education throughout the United States. The fact sheets included in this compilation illustrate these efforts and inform Excelencia’s four policy priorities: affordability, institutional capacity, retention and transfer, and workforce preparation.
National Briefing on 25 Years of HSIs Building on the momentum of recent state briefings on Latino student success in higher education, Excelencia in Education's national briefing will continue this public discourse about the growth and impact of HSIs, emerging HSIs, and the pivotal role of the Seal of Excelencia-certified institutions. The objective of this convening was to inform a national framework as the country recovers from the pandemic.
