January 14, 2021 Contact: media@EdExcelencia.org New grant will support development of measures of success for Latino students’ workforce readiness Washington, D.C. – At a critical time in our country’s economic recovery, the Strada Education Network has invested in Excelencia in Education to identify strategies for intentionally SERVING Latino students for success in the workforce. The project will support Hispanic-Serving Institutions’ (HSIs) efforts to serve Latino students and prepare them for the changing workforce by incorporating employment preparation and alignment in the Seal of Excelencia. This work builds momentum and innovation for equity by promoting efforts and leadership at HSIs. The grant will also support the upcoming cycle of the Seal of Excelencia, the nationally-respected and coveted certification that verifies institutions are intentionally serving Latino students, amongst all, by registering results in data, implementing inclusive programs with evidence of effectiveness, and applying effective leadership strategies. Launched by Excelencia in Education in 2019 to catalyze and support institutional transformation for Latino student success, the Seal of Excelencia integrates essential components into an aligned comprehensive certification.
